There’s a saying that goes something like “it’s the pains and failures of past that prepare us for the successes of the future.”
Looking back on 2017, I can definitely see that this was the lesson I needed to learn… the year started out bad and just got worse. However, it was also a time that, little did I know or see it then, the foundations of change were being laid.
As 2017 moved along and 2018 loomed on the horizon, the pain of loss, adversity, and strife was slowly being offset by the joys of new found friendships, the strengthening of old friendships, and the realization of happiness again.
If you asked me one year ago, where I thought I’d be in 12 months, I don’t think I would have even imagined it’s where I am today. The scars of 2017 are still there.. but like any battle scar, they are now just memories of a time gone by.
So Happy New Year to all my old friends and family that stuck by me through it all.. and to all the new friends and family that wouldn’t be here today if yesterday didn’t happen.
